Creating global change by being global citizens

We're Not Just Students - We're Global Citizens

From our initial collaboration with students from Busan, South Korea, which led to our founding, to continued innovation, our approach is guided by being global citizens.  While creating change locally is imperative, we have a global duty to create sustainable solutions that can scale.

A Global Charge Started It All

In 2017, the United Nations, Samsung, and IVECA Virtual Schooling tasked our high school class, one of six globally, with a simple but challenging task: develop a solution to global poverty & hunger.

Working with students in Busan, South Korea, our founders spent months understanding poverty & hunger from a global perspective. The result? A scalable solution targeting the three identified factors of poverty worldwide (a lack of jobs, education, and an unstable economy) through food rescue.

After presenting our work to a special session of the United Nations in 2018, it was clear that this needed to go beyond the classroom - a project that would become JEE Foods.

17 Goals for a Brighter Future

Our work is guided by the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. We have integrated these goals into our core mission to create a lasting, positive impact.

The dual JEE Foods mission (ending poverty & hunger) directly relates to 8+ SDGs ranging from SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. In everything we do, we aim to not only meet immediate needs but work towards building a world where we no longer need to exist.

The Samsung Global Steam Challenge

The Samsung Global STEAM Challenge is an international program designed to empower students to address pressing real-world issues through the lens of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. By focusing on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the challenge encourages high school students to think beyond the classroom and collaborate with cross-border teams.

In 2017, our founding class at Butler Tech/Ross High School was selected as one of six global schools, working alongside students in South Korea to develop what would become JEE Foods.

IVECA GEP Virtual Conference Greening Education Partnership for Sustainable Environment

Hosted by IVECA International Virtual Schooling in parallel with the UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), the Virtual Conference mobilized students, UN representatives, and academic stakeholders to advance environmental sustainability through global citizenship. The event showcased how youth participants, empowered by multi-stakeholder mentorship, utilized digital collaboration to develop actionable solutions.

Global Innovation Field Trip 2023

The Global Innovation Field Trip (GIFT) is a 24-hour livestreamed event that celebrates youth innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship on a global scale. Competing Against the World - For the World

Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship

Building on the success of our initial UN challenge, we validated the JEE Foods business model by competing in several international social entrepreneurship competitions. A milestone in our journey was our participation in the Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) competition. SAGE is a global competition that brings student founders from 38 countries together to put their socially responsible businesses to the test.

After securing victories at the local, state, and national levels, our team traveled to Durban, South Africa, in 2018 to represent the United States in the SAGE World Cup. Our first-place finish served as proof of concept for our mission-driven model and launched a period of growth. Since then, we have continued to compete and place at national competitions hosted at the T-Mobile, SAP, and GM headquarters and secured another top-three placement on an international stage.
